Following that, locks would become even more sophisticated, requiring a key which would turn multiple pins at varying lengths. The systems we know and use today were invented in 1861 by Linus Yale, who created a smaller lock and key system using serrated edges.

Although we still use relatively ancient technology for keys and locks, modern systems are revolutionising the way we view security. Electronic fob systems, keypads and biometric scanners are all modern ways to gain access. Most of these are keyless entry systems, but many choose to also install traditional locking systems as back-ups. Modern technology can be a great way to secure your property.
